Problem Summary & Description
- If you're trying to use EventCAT for real-time translation in a Zoom meeting that requires registration, you may encounter an issue where the AI Interpreter does not start, and the browser shows an error message.
Why You're Experiencing This Issue
- When Zoom's registration-required setting is enabled, each participant—including EventCAT—needs a unique access token (tk) to join the meeting. Since EventCAT's bot is not a pre-registered participant, it cannot join automatically without this token.
- Zoom handles registration by generating individual join links for each attendee. Because EventCAT does not currently have a built-in method to register itself as a participant, it is unable to obtain the required token, which prevents it from entering the meeting.
How to Fix It
- Pre-Register EventCAT's Bot (If Possible)
If Zoom allows you to manually pre-register participants, try registering EventCAT’s bot as a participant before the meeting. This may allow it to obtain the required token and join successfully. However, this method has not been fully tested and may not be an available option in all Zoom settings.
- Use a Simple Workaround (Tested and Confirmed to Work!)
If pre-registering the bot isn’t an option, follow these steps to allow EventCAT to join your Zoom meeting:
- Edit your Zoom meeting settings and temporarily turn off the registration requirement.
- Start the Zoom meeting.
- Invite EventCAT’s bot into the meeting and ensure it connects successfully.
- Once EventCAT is connected and working, re-enable the registration requirement.
This workaround has been tested and confirmed to work, meaning the bot will remain in the meeting and continue translating even after registration is turned back on.
